Blue Whale Company’s Director, Mr. Chen, Attended the 16th International Steckel Mill Meeting

The 16th International Association of Steckel Mill Operator （IASMO） Meeting was held on 9th to 11th , May, 2011, in Casablanca. My company’s director, Chen dianhuang, was invited to attend the meeting. Mr, chen presented thesis “ Welding Repair of Coiler Drum in Steckel Mill”, which was completed by Blue Whale Company and Kunming Iron & Steel Sheet Works, concentrating on the coiler drums in Kun Gang steel factory, main factors affecting drum’s service life, exploration of prolonging drum’slifetime, localized welding restoration technique for large cross-section coiler drums with high Cr and Ni content, results of coiler drum restoration, and typical examples of restoration of high-value metallurgical spare parts. Conferrees were impressed by our company’s achievements and showed great interest in welding restoration and fabrication of hot coiler drums. We have achieved the national and international patents on fabrication of hot coiler drums with welding structure. Mr chen answered the questions raised by conferrees one by one, well communicated and interacted with others. The participated iron and steel companies came from lots of countries, such as America, Morocco, China, Finland, Brazil, and India and so on.
The reason why the restoration of coiler drum caused a sensation was that our company has set a precedent in the restoration of large dimensional crack on coiler drum in the world. At present, hot coiler drums used abraod and at home are both cast structure. Drums are continuously operated at a high temperature of 1000℃. After a short period, it is also common to see large areas with cracks on the drum bodies and collapse of the window. We have repaired coiler drums successfully many times for domestic steel mills. We have offered a solution to the great problem in the world. The coiler drums fabricated by us can be used for a longer period, repaired and reused repeatedly, which overcomes the flaw of large area with cracks on coiler drums.
The 16th International Steckel Mill has exerted great significance to our company. Firstly, Mr. Chen has made agreements with many steel companies thanks to this meeting, which a good beginning to step into the international market. Secondly, we reached the new strategic cooperation intention with Kunming Iron & Steel Sheet Works. Thirdly, it’s honourable to step into the international stage on the technology innovation.
